I guess I got one of them esoteric bays lol. KrisHeh well I can't disagree with the first paragraph!! But on my bay the ground does normal - in fact it's even selectable between following tip and ring with the normal, lifted, or bussed. If you're using multiple mic preamps each with their own phantom source, then you'll need to rely on a common ground to make the 48v reference. The reason is that the ground doesn't normal (unless you use really esoteric tt jacks). Oh and Fwiw even though you can normal a tt bay (and not an xlr), they still don't work right for phantom power and mic pres. Nothing inherently wrong with running mic lines through a tt bay.I did that in my previous studio, but I felt xlr was the way to go for me on this build out. Engineers get tired, alcohol gets consumed and musicians try to be 'helpful'.
